Why Palm Cove is Australia's best babymoon destination

Thinking of planning a babymoon? Palm Cove may just be exactly what you are looking for!

Already known as the 'day spa capital of Australia,' Palm Cove is fast becoming known as the go-to destinaltion for a babymoon. With the recent cyclone causing havoc throughout the Whitsunday Islands and the Zika Virus making places like Fiji and Vanuatu unsafe for pregnant woman, more and more people are looking at the Australian mainland for their pre-baby break. Here's why you should look no further than Palm Cove...

A spa escape

Just a short 20 minute drive north of Cairns airport you’ll find Palm Cove. A stunningly tranquil beachside town hidden away from the hordes of tourists heading to Port Douglas – quite possibly Queensland’s best kept secret.

Here, you are literally spoilt for choice when it comes to day spas, which is perfect given the main objective of any babymoon is to relax and feel great about yourself. There are dozens of spa and day spa options in the area that all offer a range of treatments tailored to pregnancy.

The best of the best is the Alamanda Day Spa. Here, you will be pampered beyond compare from the moment you start your treatment to the very end - where you'll enjoy a fruit plate and tea in your own private rooftop bungalow complete with showers, day beds and an infinity pool overlooking the gorgeous Coral Sea.

Dinner for two

If you are looking to have a quiet dinner for two (before you become a family of three or more) head to the award winning Reef House Restaurant. Head Chef Ashe Lewis is renowned for his six course degustation.

The a la carte menu is also sensational and, as you would expect from any word class restaurant, all of the ingredients used are fresh and sourced as locally as possible which means by nature it has a strong seafood influence. The staff are accommodating and it’s definitely where you want to go for a special night out during your holiday.

Meanwhile, if you feel like venturing out of your hotel for breakfast, Vivo is the place to try. Or if a quick lunch or afternoon snack is what you are after, you cant go past Chill Café.

Enjoy your stay

Peppers Beach Club & Spa is the pick of the bunch when it comes to accommodation. The stunning establishment caters for all levels of accommodation from hotel rooms to two and three bedroom suites which are spacious and self-contained making you feel right at home.

There’s also plenty to enjoy throughout your stay including a tennis court, gym, a huge main pool with sandy beach and sunken pool bar, an outdoor spa and separate children’s pool. Everything you need to unwind and, although you will only be able to order a mocktail at the pool bar, just swimming out and soaking up the sun is a lovely way to spend an afternoon.

Something for your partner

While you're busy enjoying Palm Cove’s superb day spa hospitality or relaxing in the sun by the pool, there is plenty to keep your partner entertained during the day. Being so close to the Great Barrier Reef there are dozens of different day trips he can take to snorkel or scuba dive on the reef. There are also three excellent golf courses nearby and if he's into fishing send him to the caravan park where he can hire a fishing rod and bait and join the locals on the pier. A relaxing way to start or end any day and who knows, he might even catch you dinner!
