Spring is the perfect time to jump across the ditch and visit the iconic New Zealand town.

Walking around Queenstown you will struggle to find an unhappy person – everyone seems to be smiling and the feeling is infectious. For years, this beautiful town on New Zealand’s South Island has been loved by Aussies wanting a quick getaway to hit the ski slopes. However, there’s so much more to this amazing place than the snow. Spring is the perfect time to visit – especially if you like your rosé! Here are some springtime Must Do’s in Queenstown ...


On the first of September every year the Central Otago region celebrates the release of the year’s rosé that is enjoyed all over Queenstown in rooftop bars, restaurants, wineries and cafes by the stunning Lake Wakatipu.

One of the most popular rosés of the region is made by Amisfield Winery, which also happens to have one of the best restaurants in the region called Amisfield Bistro. A long lunch at this gorgeous winery is a must and it’s important to book early. The reputation of this restaurant, which currently holds ‘Two Hats’, is world renowned and it is always super busy.


Set on 500 acres of golf ranges, gentle streams and lakes with breathtaking mountain views, Millbrook Resort is something you will remember forever. Just a short 20 minute drive from Queenstown you cannot help to be overwhelmed when you arrive at this jaw-dropping estate. It’s little wonder The Spa here has a global reputation.

Situated in its own private building at the back of the resort, you can lie back and listen to the slow running stream beside your treatment room and be instantly carried away to a state of bliss. Choose your favourite treatment – everything is done to perfection here.


Queenstown is surrounded by amazing mountain ranges which must be experienced to truly understand their natural beauty. The best view is in the air by helicopter. In spring, although starting to melt, you will still be greeted by snow-capped Alps so warm clothes are still required especially if you want to do one of the amazing glacier landing experiences.

It is a very convenient experience which doesn’t take much out of your day, but one which you will you cherish. The flights leave from Queenstown airport which is just 10 minutes from the town centre. Then you will be taken by chopper over some absolutely stunning countryside up into the mountain rangers where you will land on a secluded glacier. You will then be given time to get out and take in the gorgeous wilderness and absolute quietness of being so far removed from society.


You are absolutely spoiled for choice when it comes to dining in Queenstown. There are over 150 restaurants in town covering every genre, but given the amazing fresh produce in the area and its big foodie culture you should definitely try one of the high end places during your visit.

Rata is one of the best in town with New Zealand inspired food created by owner and Michelin starred Chef Josh Emett. The food will blow you away and with the restaurant offering lunch, dinner and a bar menu there are plenty of options to choose from. If you do get there make sure you try the Goats Cheese Profiteroles with Rata Blossom Honey and Rosemary – delicious!
